An undemanding, hardy, wintergreen, densely growing perennial with reddish-brown, glossy, oval-round leaves, some of which show shades of green. Simple, violet-blue flowers appear from late spring to early summer, arranged in upright spikes that are especially attractive to bees and bumblebees. LILY OF THE VALLEY
Convallaria majalis

A herbaceous perennial with dark green, lance-shaped leaves that are slightly shiny on top and grow in pairs. The intensely fragrant, white, short-stemmed bell flowers appear in late spring to early summer as a single-sided raceme. The flowers are followed by small, red berries beginning in July. Over time, the plant forms carpet-like stands through rhizomes. At the end of the growing season, the perennial completely retracts. All parts of the plant are poisonous. The species name "majalis" refers to the flowering period which typically takes place in May.

Its flowers are very attractive to bees and other insects.

ORIENTAL LEOPARD'S-BANE
Doronicum orientale

A slowly spreading rhizomatous perennial with elliptic, gently scalloped basal leaves, which remain dark green in color throughout the season. It grows in a mounded form. Lemon-yellow daisy-like flowers at the ends of the stems appear in late spring before the plant goes summer dormant. The flowers are attractive to wildlife like bees and butterflies and suitable for cutting.

JAPANESE ANEMONE 'BRESSINGHAM GLOW'
Eriocapitella japonica ‘Bressingham Glow’

A late-flowering, well-branched, delicate herbaceous perennial with a slightly vase-shaped growth habit, growing to about 80cm in height. The three lobed, medium green colored leaves are covered in fine hairs. From August to September it features halb double flowers with dusty rose petals and a yellow center. The flowers attract bees and other insects and are suitable for cut flowers. Alan Bloom named and introduced this variety in 1968.

SPINDLE 'EMERALD GAIETY'
Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald Gaiety’

The foliage consists of rounded to ovate, glossy, dark emerald-green leaves with irregular white margins. They can get a pink tinge in winter. A few inconspicuous, small greenish-white flowers appear in spring and early summer. The green seed capsules open to bright red colored berries, which are a food source to wildlife and birds.
