The easy and efficient way to distribute Laubwerk Plants (and any other object) on terrains. The plugin adds a series of parametrical and interactive modeling tools to MAXON Cinema 4D.

SurfaceSPREAD is specifically designed to populate ('scatter') large amounts of object clones on surfaces. Furthermore, it contains a terrain generator, shaders, and other helper objects to satisfy all your landscaping needs inside Cinema 4D.

Current note for Cinema 4D R19 users: Please either use the installer in custom mode and install R18 plugin to your R19 plugins folder or copy the R18 SurfaceSPREAD plugin folder to your R19 plugins folder. Then you need to request a new license key. An updated installer will be out soon.

LAUBWERK SURFACESPREAD

With the SurfaceSPREAD object you can quickly scatter vast amounts of object clones such as Laubwerk Plants on surfaces. Use parametrical tools, environment-sensitive parameters (e.g. slope/height) or manually control your distributions with help of splines, vertex painting, bitmaps or distribution modifiers.

DISTRIBUTE OBJECTS!

A special filter system enables you to control the clone distribution with geological rules in a way that is reactive to the landscape’s topography (Fractal Breakup, Slope and Height), distribution modifiers and standard filters like poly selections and vertex maps. All filters can be combined with each other. Scaling and alignment of the clones can be controlled in many ways, to achieve an ideal result. To ensure a good editor and rendering performance you are provided with a number of performance filter, e.g. to eliminate clones that are outside the camera's field of view, behind mountains or at greater distance. You can also reduce their level of detail or display them as bounding boxes.

CREATE TERRAINS

SurfaceSPREAD is also a high-quality landscape generator, expanding on Cinema 4D’s own landscape object to allow users to create elaborately detailed and customizable terrains, including lakes, rivers and streets, that look great in the foreground, as well as in the distance.

The SPREADscape object generates stunning landscapes and goes a lot further than the standard landscape object of Cinema 4D does.
Build your terrains from up to 7 layers! For every layer, you can use different fractal functions, or design your landscape using bitmaps/shaders or splines. All layers can be combined using different mix functions. Using the spline sculpting function you can e.g. create parametric rivers and roads exactly where you want them, and edit them at any time!
Thanks to the support for shaders and bitmaps you can also use height maps from other programs.

Using the shaping function you can adjust the whole landscape according to your needs and wishes. Either create a shaping curve yourself, or choose from several standard presets, such as Glaciation, Canyonize, Plateau or Dunes. If you have created an especially nice terrain, save it as a presets file and store it for later use.

ROCKS AND STONES

The special SPREADrock object generates unique rocks and stones within the blink of an eye. From different fractal functions you get cool rocks that you can distribute on your landscapes using the SurfaceSPREAD object. Be creative and use the SPREADrock object for other effects (e.g. animated explosions)! Of course, the LOD functions of Cinema 4D (LOD setting in the editor or in the Display tag) are supported, too. As in the SPREADscape Object, you can also store your SPREADrock creations as presets.

THE SURFACESPREAD SHADER

SurfaceSPREAD also comes with a special channel shader which you can invoke in your materials. Use the SurfaceSPREAD shader to change your materials depending from calculation results of the SurfaceSPREAD object! Give each flower of your meadow a unique color, apply a fresher green to trees near clearings in the forest, or let stones at the riverside shine wet! The shader not only works in the Cinema 4D standard renderer and in Advanced Render, but also in VrayForC4D!

THE DISTRIBUTION OVERRIDE TAG

If you clone several different objects (e.g. rocks and trees), they might need different distribution settings. For example, trees can grow at very steep slopes, where all rocks would already have slipped away. The Distribution Override Tag makes it easy to apply special distibution settings to your clones depending from the original objects. Just attach a tag to your trees and override any distribution setting you want with other values, making the tree distribution different from the rock distribution. That way, you can create a very realistic distribution for all the clones in your scene, and still have just one SurfaceSPREAD object. Can't think of anything more comfortable.

THE WIRE OBJECT

This little bonus object creates a spline along any number of objects. Use it to get easy control over your rivers and roads in the SPREADscape object, combine it with the SurfaceSPREAD object to generate instant balls of wool or furballs, or use in your daily modeling work.
